Report: New Zealand slaps sanctions against 75 Russians

MOSCOW, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- New Zealand has imposed sanctions against 75 Russian individuals, including 51 businesspeople and 24 officials from Russia’s newly integrated territories, The New Zealand Herald newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The list includes co-founder and former chief executive of U.K.-based mining giant Evraz, which operates mainly in Russia, Alexander Abramov and members of his family.

According to the list of designated people, published on the website of New Zealand’s Foreign Ministry, the sanctions also cover CEO of Gazprombank Andrei Akimov, former CEO and co-owner of oil company Lukoil Vagit Alekperov, CEO of oil company Gazprom Neft Alexander Dyukov, former Chairman of the board of directors of multi-industry holding Sistema Vladimir Yevtushenkov, CEO of investment company Interros and metals company Norilsk Nickel Vladimir Potanin, and CEO of state nuclear company Rosatom Alexei Likhachyov.

The people would be subjected to a travel ban, and their aircraft and vessels would be banned from entering New Zealand airspace and ports, and their assets frozen.

There were also new bans on exports and imports of luxury goods like New Zealand wine and seafood and Russian vodka and caviar, as well as products like oil and gas, The New Zealand Herald reported.
